Slovan Bratislava was founded in 1919 in Bratislava and has 24 Slovak league titles. In Europe the club won the Cup Winners' Cup in 1969, beating Barcelona 3-2 in the final in Basel on 21 May 1969. The quarter-final was reached in the Cup Winners' Cup in 1963 and 1964, and the club was runner-up in the Mitropa Cup in 1964. In 2023 the team reached the round of 16 in the Conference League. Seven players from the club were part of Czechoslovakia's European Championship-winning side in 1976.
