Como was founded in 1907 in Como, and its best Serie A finish is sixth place in 1950. The club qualified for the Champions League through fourth place in Serie A. The nickname I Voltiani refers to Alessandro Volta, the physicist from Como. Since 2019 the club has been owned by the Indonesian Djarum group, the Hartono brothers.
